Ghost Pic

January 25, 2009

I’m having fun with my Nikon. I made my son look like a ghost. Whaddya think?

No, I didn’t use photoshop. Here’s how you do it. Put the subject in a dark room and take a picture using a long exposure of about 15 seconds. Use a separate flash and flash the subject once. Have the subject move out of the picture and flash once or twice more. To keep the shadows even, flash in the same spot each time. To get an erie look, flash the subect from below. You can flash the subect in different poses to get twin ghosts. Try it out and have fun! Oh, and for the advance users- use colored lights on or around the subject for effect. Also note any lights that may be in the pic. Things like the clock above can get over-exposed.

Save us President Obama

January 20, 2009

From terrorists?

From the economy? Global Warming? Killer bees? Nancy Pelosi? Hair loss?

Nope. Something better:

And some ‘humor‘ for the departing President.

The left just doesn’t have any class left. Good luck Obama. Not for dealing with our threats and enemies, but for dealing with your supporters.

Question of the day for Luke AFB

January 18, 2009

I saw this over at The Absurd Report and had to link it. Especially since I was stationed there for five years.

Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.

When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it must Have stung quite a bit.

The complaint:

‘Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base:

Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 A.M, a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early bird special?

Any response would be appreciated.

The response:

Regarding ‘A wake-up call from Luke’s jets’ On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four- ship fly by of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadronat Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt. Jeremy Fresques. Capt Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.

At 9 a. m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend. Based on the letter writer’s recount of the fly by, and because of the jet noise, I’m sure you didn’t hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their son’s flag on behalf of the President of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have endured..

A four-ship fly by is a display of respect the Air Force gives to those who give their lives in defense of& nbsp;freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.

The letter writer asks, ‘Whom do we thank for the morning air show? The 56th Fighter Wing will make the call for you, and forward your thanks to the widow and parents of Capt Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.

Only 2 defining forces have ever offered to die for you….Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Lt. Col. Grant L. Rosensteel, Jr.

As a side note, I have seen people calling up and complaining about the noise and threatening to shoot the next one that flys by.  Surely you must have noticed the Air Force Base and its planes BEFORE you bought your house?

Remember- Jet Noise: The sound of freedom!

What happened to the ‘new’ Colorblind Society?

January 14, 2009

Didn’t Obama run his campaign without his race being an important factor? Didn’t he want everyone to look beyond race? Wasn’t Obama’s election to the Presidency a sign that race doesn’t matter any more? Didn’t MLK move us in a direction where we do not judge one another based on characteristics such as race?

What happened?

Why do we get people that isolate factors by race and use old stereotypes?

Of all the kids that he could use, he picks the black one. Why is it that Delta “can’t be cut from the trip”? And she’s waited three years! But haven’t the others? Why is she more special than the others? Last I knew, PE Obama is going to be the President of ALL of us.

Why doesn’t somebody just come out and say it… since Obama is the first black President, all white folks ought to stay home to make more room so that the black ones can watch the inauguration?

And the stereotype that I spoke of? Why is it that the black kid can’t pay her own way? Stereotypical poor black family? Why is it that the only way she can make it is if the white kids help? Is this the stereotypical ‘blacks can’t solve their own problems’? Or some other lame stereotype?

I thought we progressed past all of those beliefs?

My feeling is that we are becoming less colorblind and unfortunately, with PE Obama, things will get worse. No, not necessarily because of what he will do. It’s his Obamabots. Or was that Obamatrons? Obots??

Oh, and I thought the ‘funnies’ were supposed to be ‘funny’?

Didn’t they get the memo?

January 13, 2009

Surely the Iranians got the memo about ‘change’?

Hardline demonstrators burn posters of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, during a demonstration in support of the people of Gaza, in front of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran January 13, 2009.

So much for President Hopeandchange!

Our new Senator: Open mouth, insert foot

January 13, 2009

You’d think that our brand new Democrat Senator would start his term by saying nice things about our State or the other people running it, right?

Not Begich.

Is it ‘gas line or bust’ for Palin?

Sen. Mark Begich says Gov. Sarah Palin is too focused on gas-line-related infrastructure proposals for the Obama stimulus plan. Others are wondering if Palin’s real focus is enhancing her 2012 presidential prospects.

Yes, you read that correctly. Sarah has been pushing for the gas line for quite some time now. Long before she was selected as VP by McCain. And Mark Begich seems to think the only reason she’s focused on this is because of her potential 2012 campaign? Where have you been the last few years Mark? Dont’ you pay attention to what happens here at home? Or are you too busy with your legal issues?

Thanks Alaska, kick out one corrupt politician and elect another.

So the lesson is, if you work hard to make a significant impact to the citizens of your State, then you get dissed by the opposing party as being politically motivated. Nice way to reach across the isle bucko!

Only a Democrat would complain about a progressive leader like Palin.

How many of these are we going to get?

Five Somali pirates drown as they squabble over their $3million ransom

Five Somali pirates drowned when a wave washed off their getaway boat as they squabbled over over how to split their $3 million ransom.

The ransom had been paid to the pirates to end the world’s biggest ship hijacking.

The canister full of cash was parachuted onto the Sirius Star – observed by the U.S. Navy who provided these images – and the two-month ordeal of the 25 crew, including two Britons, was finally over.

Say hello to Davy Jones mateys! Har har har!!!
