Isn’t this the same group that supports Obama too? Imagine that.
THE grief-stricken parents of the Harry Potter actor stabbed to death outside a London bar yesterday made a TV plea for youths to stop carrying knives.
Robert Knox’s father warned: “With knives there are no winners, only losers.”
“If you are a person who carries a knife, think about the consequences and, for my son’s sake, don’t do it,” Colin Knox said.
Rob had just finished work on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, due out in November.
He had a minor role as student wizard Marcus Belby, but was to appear in the next Potter film.
His parents said they hoped their son’s fame would focus attention on London’s worsening knife culture.
Mr Knox, 55, who works in media production, said: “If it serves that purpose, then Robert will have done something else exceptional.”
You can ban guns, but you’ll just have people getting killed by some other method. Look at the Middle East, you can get stoned to death over there. South Africa? I hear getting ‘necklaced’ is back in style. What is ‘necklaced’? Basically, someone puts a tire around your neck and fills the inside with a flammable liquid and sets it afire. Cool, eh?
It’s always sad to see a kid with a future dying. I grew up with a kid that got into a fight and fell down and hit his head and ended up dying. It was accidental but it’s still sad. Even though the guy was a jerk, it’s just not the way or time to go.
Javier Solana, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, announced in Brussels on Monday that he would go to Iran soon — hopefully “within the month” — to present a new offer of political, technological, security and trade rewards for Iran if the country halts its uranium enrichment program.
Don’t waste your time. They said they’d never stop. Hello? Anyone listening to what they’re saying??? Morons.
What? It’s not Bush’s fault? How did that happen?
“Look at what happened in the last two years since Senator Obama visited and declared the war lost,” the GOP presidential nominee-in-waiting told The Associated Press in an interview, noting that the Illinois senator’s last trip to Iraq came before the military buildup that is credited with curbing violence.
He has no real interest in our troops or the war except to appeal to the left about leaving.
“He really has no experience or knowledge or judgment about the issue of Iraq and he has wanted to surrender for a long time,” the Arizona senator added. “If there was any other issue before the American people, and you hadn’t had anything to do with it in a couple of years, I think the American people would judge that very harshly.”
Obama, who has all but clinched the Democratic nomination, says he will remove U.S. combat troops within 16 months of taking office, though sometimes he shortens it to 11 months.
Make up your mind Obama. Is the math too hard or you just can’t make up your mind? 11 or 16? Pick one.
Obama spokesman Bill Burton declined to respond directly to McCain, saying only: “Senator Obama thinks Memorial Day is a day to honor our nation’s veterans, not a day for political posturing.”
It’s not a time for political posturing when you’ve lost the argument.
“For him to talk about dates for withdrawal, which basically is surrender in Iraq after we’re succeeding so well is, I think, really inexcusable,” said McCain, who has been to Iraq eight times, most recently in March.
“If Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t find offense to it, why is it that everybody else should?” McAuliffe said. “They shouldn’t. They ought to take Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — he did not misinterpret it or misjudge it.”
It must not matter whether the person that would be the most offended by it isn’t. What really matters is that you can politically posture yourself into a better position because of someone else’s statement being taken out of context. Classy. How many times has Obama misspoke? LOTS! Remember Obama, we have 50 States, not 57!
The three-legged lander set down Sunday in relatively flat terrain covered by fissures outlining polygon shapes. The geometric cracks are likely caused by the repeated freezing and thawing of buried ice.
Congrats NASA for a successful landing! Great job!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
I saw my Dr. about three weeks ago at the VA and I told him about some heart problems I was having. He ordered a 24 hr monitor to see what’s up. About a week later I called the nurse and she said it was never put in the system and she’d put it in. It’s been a more than a week later and still nothing.
I’m no expert so I don’t know how serious this problem is, but what if it was? I could be friggin’ dead by now.
So really, ya’ll still want the Government to be in charge of your health care? Seriously???
Fix the VA system first! Don’t add another broken system to our Government!
From Crush Liberalism:
… Over the weekend, Obama also took a question about Hanford. Let’s underscore here that Hanford is not some tiny municipal dump. It’s the nation’s most contaminated nuclear site. Obama’s response? …
Here’s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I’m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I’ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.
The bill’s summary section:
Section 3114 –
Directs the Secretary to submit to the defense and appropriations committees any reports received from the Army Corps of Engineers evaluating costs, schedules, and technical issues associated with the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant Project at the DOE Hanford Site.
So what happens? Obama votes ‘aye’ on the bill. Voting on a bill without reading it? Is this what you call ‘leadership’? Or is this the ‘change’ you’ve been wanting?
And what about that campaign stop in Oregon?
Obama draws largest crowd of campaign at Portland rally
Sixty-thousand people packed into a park alongside the banks of the Willamette River to listen to Obama, with another 15,000 left standing outside the gates, according to city fire officials. Hundreds more anchored their motorboats, or floated in kayaks and canoes.
But I read a post on this site from Gawfer:
…the media played it up as Obama attracts 75k; but in reality, the Indie Pop band Decemberists performed a free concert before he spoke:
BTW, in the mid 1800’s, the Decemberists were a group of Russian military Officers who attempted a revolt against the government, just after Russia defeated Napoleon. Because of their influence, the KGB was formed resulting in the Soviet Union.
I find it quite compelling that Barack would chose a band to open his rally, whose name is synonymous with a communist group that influenced the creation of the Soviet Union, and further find it interesting that their appearance was absent from the media’s account of the rally.
O really? A free rock band before BO speaks and the press somehow neglects to mention it? It can’t be because of liberal bias, right? And an interesting choice of bands too? Are you ready for this country to be turned into a socialist state yet? You can’t say he isn’t warning us, not without all that talk about ‘change’ and no specifics of what he’ll change. Hillary may be bad, but she ain’t this bad!
I’ve avoided calling him an elitist because I felt others were too quick to give him that label. Plus, it’s been a bit over-used. But after Obama complained and told people to ‘lay off my wife’, I felt that he finally earned that title.
Sen. Barack Obama ripped into a Republican ad today that targets comments made by his wife, Michelle, and called the GOP tactic “low class” and “detestable.” [see video below]
The Illinois senator told “Good Morning America” that he expects hardball tactics from the Republicans if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.
A video showing her speaking about being proud for the first time is ‘hardball’. Get a grip dude!
“But I also think these folks should lay off my wife,” he told “GMA” as his wife chuckled beside him.
I wonder why she ‘chuckled’? I didn’t see the video, but if he was serious then why ‘chuckle’?
The media and blogosphere has been all over Bill and Chelsea during this campaign. And Michele is not the only wife that has had unflattering comments made about her. She has, like the others, picked up that microphone and spoke for their spouse’s campaign. Why is she immune to criticism? Only one thing comes to mind: Elitism. When President Bush spoke in Israel about appeasement, Obama felt attacked. His name was not even mentioned. And the White House said that it was aimed at President Carter. Someone seems to be acting in a manner that says ‘you can’t criticize me or my family’. Again- Elitism. Is this the shallow type of behavior that you want running this country?
Watch the video. Again, this is ‘hardball’? Dude, seriously, get out of the kitchen. You obviously can’t handle the heat! This is about as laid back as you can get for a political ad!!!
***Check out the second clip of Michelle stating her pride. Is it me, or does it seem stilted and contrived? It’s almost like she didn’t want to say the words, like she was forced to say them. What do you think?
They are used only by Republicans, right?
But what about Obama?
Democrat Barack Obama quietly told a small group of seniors Sunday that Republican John McCain would threaten the Social Security they depend on because he supports privatizing the program.
Obama said McCain would push to raise the retirement age for collecting Social Security benefits or trim annual cost-of-living increases.
One of the things they teach in Economics is that Government, by definition, is inefficient. Therefore, privatizing it can make it more efficient and thus work better for you! So who’s the REAL boogeyman?
”I don’t have a candidate I’m supporting and I’m certainly interested and excited by the hope that Barack Obama is inspiring,” he said, but went on to accuse him of a “phenomenally inhuman and unconstitutional” voting record.
Hmm, I haven’t heard anything about how ‘inhuman and unconstitutional’ his voting record is. Don’t tell me the MSM has missed this gem. But the amazing part is, no matter how horrible his voting record is- he’s still supporting him!!! Isn’t it the left that complains about those wingnut neocons that still support Bush after all of his problems? I’m sure you’ve heard them called sheep and lemmings for their continued support. But what about these lefties? Am I to understand only those on the right have to drop support when somebody does something ‘unconstitutional’? Just exactly whom are the real sheep?
And for some humor- The top 10 On-Camera Meltdowns.
Just how many losers do these people have to be with before you see them for what they are?
And a good quote of the day (from The Absurd Report):
“Poor People have been voting for Democrats for the last 50 years, ………… and they are still poor.” – Charles Barkley
Some people never learn, eh?
Susan E. Rice, a former State Department and National Security Council official who is a foreign policy adviser to the Democratic candidate, said that “for political purposes, Senator Obama’s opponents on the right have distorted and reframed” his views. Mr. McCain and his surrogates have repeatedly stated that Mr. Obama would be willing to meet “unconditionally” with Mr. Ahmadinejad. But Dr. Rice said that this was not the case for Iran or any other so-called “rogue” state. Mr. Obama believes “that engagement at the presidential level, at the appropriate time and with the appropriate preparation, can be used to leverage the change we need,” Dr. Rice said. “But nobody said he would initiate contacts at the presidential level; that requires due preparation and advance work.”
Great, another flip-flopper lefty.
“Any references by counsel to the Second Amendment or analogous state constitutional provisions are likewise irrelevant,” the brief states. …“Any references by counsel to the Second Amendment or analogous state constitutional provisions are likewise irrelevant,” the brief states.
Will the lefties stand up and complain about their rights being taken away? Or will they ignore it because it’s not Bush’s fault?
