U.N.’s Ban condemns Dutch film as anti-Islamic

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday condemned as “offensively anti-Islamic” a Dutch lawmaker’s film that accuses the Koran of inciting violence.

Ban acknowledged efforts by the government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of the film, which was launched by Islam critic Geert Wilders over the Internet, and appealed for calm to those “understandably offended by it.”

“There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence,” Ban said in a statement. “The right of free expression is not at stake here.”

The film urges Muslims to tear out “hate-filled” verses from the Koran and starts and finishes with a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad with a bomb under his turban, accompanied by the sound of ticking.

What about all the films that have bashed Christianity? Or offended Jews? Why doesn’t the UN speak out against them?

Why didn’t the UN condemn Ian McKellen?

McKellen tears out Bible’s anti-gay page in hotel rooms

SIR Ian McKellen is so offended by the Bible’s anti-gay stance he makes a point of ripping out the relevant page every time he stays in a hotel room.

The openly homosexual actor, a longtime campaigner for gay rights, accepts he shouldn’t vandalise the Bible, but finds it difficult to contain his outrage at the contents of Leviticus 20:13 when he spots the holy book in hotels.

Many books and films trash Christians and Jews but the UN is silent on them. Is the UN only speaking out because it fears Muslims? Sounds like their attitudes are ‘Do as you please, but don’t piss off the Muslims or there will be Hell to pay.’

Pardon my German, but FUCK the UN! If you can’t treat all religions equally, then stay out of it!

And you know it constantly pisses me off that I have to point this out to people. Take South Park alone, how many times have they mocked Jesus? You don’t see Christians taking to the streets calling for the death of Trey Parker now do ya???

Load of bollocks if you ask me.

There is a lot that you can make fun of in religion without going over the line. I like the Family Guy style when it comes to this. I like that scene where Meg begs “God, please kill me now” and you see God aiming at her with his sniper rifle with laser scope. Like He needs it! Too funny!

According to the Bible, we’re made in his image and likeness. Therefore, if we have a sense of humor, so does He.

    Question: Have you seen Fitna?

I have. Or, well, I tried.. I couldn’t get through much of it because the BS was just that thick. It reminds me of a propaganda film that would have been produced by Nazi Germany about the Jews. And if you think I’m guilty of using hyperbole there, try watching the film. You’ll see what I mean.

As for the violent verses/surahs of the Quran that Fitna quotes, it takes passages that describe tactics that Muslims are allowed to use in warfare. Notice that I said in. At the time that Muhammad conceived of the Quran, there was a lot of warfare and violence going on in the Middle East, and that’s the surahs quota in Fitna talk about — except Fitna omits that fact. Furthermore, FItna has creative translations of the Quran… Inserting the word “bloodbath” into when surah when it’s not actually there, taking only the parts that talk about rules of warfare and neglecting the lines which discuss peace that are in the same surah…

To compare this kind of trash to South Park is, in my opinion, ridiculous.

“the surahs quoted in Fitna…”, not quota. Whoops.

Not really. My wife, the Catholic, is highly offended by South Park’s ‘humor’. Muslims are offended at Fitna. About the same. Sure, South Park is ‘humor’ (or is it hidden hatred?) and Fitna is some sort of ‘documentary’ which puts them in different classes. But the point is, both groups are offended and there are or could be hidden agendas which make both suspect. Not much will be comparable 100%, but there is a certain level that you can compare.

I don’t make tools, but I find the best ones to use and do the best I can with them. Just as you can’t always find the right tool for the job, you can’t always find the right example either. I’ve dealt with idiots that focus on how poor my analogies are and completely miss the point I’m trying to make. I wonder if they are completely stupid or that I had a good point and they can’t admit it.
