Just whose side is the left on?

Remember that report that came out stating Iran quit their nuclear program in 2003? Remember how joyous the left was? Or how much they berated our government? Even though there were reports that said this was nothing but a ruse, it doesn’t matter. Just as long as we look bad, right?

Iran says U.S. report a “declaration of surrender”

Iran’s president said on Sunday the publication of a U.S. intelligence report saying Iran had halted a nuclear weapons program in 2003 amounted to a “declaration of surrender” by Washington in its row with Tehran

Are you happy now? Remember, any sign of weakness is exploited by them. And they don’t mind rubbing your nose in it too. Must make you guys feel soooo proud.

He said on Sunday: “It was in fact a declaration of surrender … It was a positive action by the U.S. administration to change their attitude and it was a correct move.”

Yes, don’t you just love it when foreign leaders tell us what the correct moves are? Yes, we are a slave to their demands. We have no power unless they give it to us. Isn’t that nice?

“It would be beneficial for both Iran and them (the West) to cooperate with Iran,” Ahmadinejad said. “Of course it would be more to their benefit than Iran’s.”

Ahh, yes. Don’t you just love how they dictate to us? Funny, I thought people on the left didn’t like it when we boss others around. We’re nothing but bullies. But they are bossing us around. This is better? You guys actually like this? We cannot dictate to others, but they can to us? Democrats have been trying to prove they are strong, but all they want to do is be submissive to other countries? WTF?

[shurg] Of course a nation’s leader — any nation’s leader — is going to tyr and put the best spin they can on world news, so these statements aren’t surprisingly. To resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis, the JFK administration gave Kruschev to goto the Russian people and say, “Look, I saved Cuba from the evil US! Aren’t I awesome?!” But that doesn’t mean this statement was true — or that it made the US weaker.

Like Kruschev, Ahmadinejad is going to put spin forward to his people in an attempt to score political points. Additionally, he also wants the extremist base of Iranians to still think that he’s working on a nuclear weapon — indeed, news of the NIE was probably a political setback amongst those constituents. Does this make the US weaker? No. Now, on the otherhand, what has made the US weaker is this war were fighting in Iraq… But that’s off-topic.

As for the other sources which claim the NIE could be false, there are many reports out there which stipulate that the conclusion reached by 16 US intelligence agencies about Iran’s nuclear program was meticulously thought out — more so than the estimate made in 2005. the 2007 NIE weren’t through more of a ringer. If other countries claim that our NIE is wrong, then let them bring the evidence forward proving such claims.

Yes, I’d like to see what Israel has on the Iranians. Nice points, thx.

I’m not 100% sure we are ‘weaker’ because of Iraq. I’m sure we’ve learned a lot and tried out many new tactics and toys. I’d say we are more battle hardened than broken like some say. But that’s my armchair general view.

I still don’t trust the Iranians though.
