Can we really trust those people that do ‘predictions’

October 29, 2007

Namely, Hurricane predictions. Didn’t we have people before the season stating that it would be one of the busiest on record?

2007 Yearly Tropical Cyclone Activity to Date

Unless a dramatic and historical flurry of activity occurs in the next 9 weeks, 2007 will rank as a historically inactive TC year for the Northern Hemisphere as a whole. During the past 30 years, only 1977, 1981, and 1983 have had less activity to date (January-TODAY, Accumulated Cyclone Energy).

The North Atlantic hurricane season is currently nearly 30% below normal in terms of a well-known activity metric called ACE. While the number of named storms is above normal, their integrated intensity has not matched the hyper-active expectations of many seasonal forecasters (e.g. NOAA 140-200% above median). The Eastern Pacific off the western coast of Mexico is also experiencing record inactivity.

See that? They expected levels at 140-200% and we are 30% below. How can we believe everything they say about ‘global warming’ when they are so far off? The question I have is this- Did they use past data to predict the season or did the just say ‘global warming’ is going to reek havoc  so lets do a scary prediction to get people motivated about the climate? Really. How can they be so far off? I expect scientists to use tried and true methods versus running around yelling about the sky falling.

It’s official. I’m going into hiding.

Better safe than sorry, eh?

Scientists Find Oldest Living Animal, Then Kill It

British marine biologists have found what may be the oldest living animal — that is, until they killed it.

The team from Bangor University in Wales was dredging the waters north of Iceland as part of routine research when the unfortunate specimen, belonging to the clam species Arctica islandica, was hauled up from waters 250 feet deep.

Only after researchers cut through its shell, which made it more of an ex-clam, and counted its growth rings did they realize how old it had been — between 405 and 410 years old.

Just gotta love government ‘health-care’

October 29, 2007

I called the VA today to make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. The earliest appointment I could get was December 10th. And the lady says they don’t have a Dental Hygienist and the regular dentist would have to do the cleaning. WTF!!? This is the largest VA center in the state! We have over 70,000 vets in this state! And they can’t even supply ONE hygienist????

I’m starting to think that anyone that wants the government to run ‘health-care’ that they are either crazy or a glutton for punishment.

Doesn’t this bother anyone on the left?

U.S. Military: Iranian-Made Rockets Hit Base Near Baghdad

Rockets fired at a U.S. base southeast of Baghdad were manufactured in Iran, showing again that country’s continued logistical support for insurgents inside Iraq, U.S. military officials said on Saturday.

According to the military, the 107mm rocket was made in Iran sometime in March. Troops investigating the launch site seized six rocket rails – used to aim and launch the rockets, an unfired rocket and a timing device.

The seized rocket is the 40th Iranian manufactured rocket that soldiers have captured in the last four months, the military said.

So, how many rockets does it take for people on the left to be outraged? And the lefties say that WE are the ones trying to start a war with Iran.  Amazing, eh?

From The Absurd Report:

Leave it to the Democrats to always POLITIZED every natural disaster that occurs. There seems to be no limit of the stupidity that comes out of their mouths and it is stunning how they relate things to Iraq and Bush without even checking out the facts.

But then again why let a little thing like facts get into the way of scoring political points?

Out of the mouth of Moron No. 1 Senator Barbara Boxer who couldn’t wait to step up on a soap box to reach a microphone with a very sullen voice and tears in her eyes, (I paraphrase), she said that the majority of California’s National Guard is in Iraq with the much needed equipment to fight fires and this is creating a manpower shortage.

Out of the mouth of Moron No. 2 LT. Governor John Garamendi reiterated much same insanity that came out of Senator Boxer’s mouth and called for the California National Guard to return home.

Fact: Not to be confused with the idiot statements above.

California has 2,000 members of the National Guard in Iraq and 17,000 able body guards-people sitting at home. And speaking of available manpower, Camp Pendleton sits right in the middle of San Diego County with 30,000 plus with military people available.

Out of the mouth of Moron No. 3 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who blamed the fire on Global Warming.

Not a Fact: But only my conclusion

Hey Harry, how about a carbon offset tax for everyone in California for their fire?

SideBear: Ever wonder why wildfires run unchecked? Look to environmental policies that prohibit the clearing of dead underbrush.

Volunteer fire fighters have come from all over and the people of Southern California are busting their asses to fight this disaster and you would think that they deserve a little more common sense from their elected officials but the again when using the words ‘Common Sense’ and ‘Elected Officials’ in the same sentence is an OXY-MORON.

‘Mega Forest Fires -Caused by Global Warming or the Sierra Club?’ By Mary Mostert

Yesterday, 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley reported that “Global warming is increasing the intensity and number of forest fires across the American West, according to one of the world’s leading fire ecologists. “ It isn’t global warming, which even Pelley put at a 1 degree increase in climate “change” that has caused the mega fires in Western forests. It is the “success” of the Sierra Club and a bunch of city-slicker environmentalists who forced changes in logging and brush control which led to a huge build-up of fuel in the forests. Those who know the forests have been warning for years these kind of fires would happen.

From 1975 to 1999 I lived on the edge of the El Dorado National Park in Northern California. I not only watched the changes take place, I WROTE about what would happen as a result of those changes, after listening to experienced forest rangers give testimony congress.

And the sad thing is, the MSM doesn’t call them on their statements. Give a fellow liberal a free ride, eh? When the press plays politics, you lose.

It’s almost the 1,000 day mark….

And John Kerry still hasn’t kept his word.

MR. RUSSERT: Many people who’ve been criticizing you have said: Senator, if you would just do one thing and that is sign Form 180, which would allow historians and journalists complete access to all your military records. Thus far, you have gotten the records, released them through your campaign. They say you should not be the filter. Sign Form 180 and let the historians…

SEN. KERRY: I’d be happy to put the records out. We put all the records out that I had been sent by the military. Then at the last moment, they sent some more stuff, which had some things that weren’t even relevant to the record. So when we get–I’m going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn’t in the record and we’ll put it out. I have no problem with that.

MR. RUSSERT: Would you sign Form 180?

SEN. KERRY: But everything, Tim…

MR. RUSSERT: Would you sign Form 180?

SEN. KERRY: Yes, I will.

That was: Sunday, January 30th, 2005

So John, what’s the holdup? Or is this another lie you’d like us to forget?

You call this ‘success’?

Russians Successfully Breed Cockroaches in Space

Russian scientists are popping the champagne corks after a cockroach called Hope conceived in space.

They say it is the first time any creature has give birth after cavorting in space.

Scientists in Vorenezh, central Russia, are now studying Hope’s 33 babies to find out how being conceived in zero gravity has affected their development.

Like we don’t have enough cockroaches? Just hope they don’t escape and take over the joint!

Would it really kill them to report something positive?

Disrespecting The American Military

Last night our lead story on ‘The Factor’ was the Medal of Honor awarded to Navy S.E.A.L. Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in Afghanistan trying to save his unit. Lieutenant Murphy’s bravery is chronicled in a best selling book, “Lone Survivor,” and it is truly an incredible saga.

Why then did CNN and MSNBC fail to report the Medal of Honor story in primetime last night? Easy question, disturbing answer. Katie Couric on CBS News gave Lieutenant Murphy more than three minutes, Charles Gibson on ABC News more than two minutes, Brian Williams didn’t report the ceremony although he did cover the story last week.

But apparently Lieutenant Murphy was not ready for primetime on our cable competition even though they had hours to get mention of it on the air. The hard truth is that MSNBC and CNN are not going to report stories that reflect well on the American military because those people over there despise the Bush administration and believe anything positive like American heroes in war zones, detract from their negative assessment of the administration.

Lieutenant Murphy is the only person to receive the Medal of Honor for action in Afghanistan, a war zone that is directly dealing with Al Qaeda and they’re Taliban enablers.

Don’t insult the American people by saying you are behind the troops when you ignore their heroism. CNN and NBC News can’t get enough of negative war zone stories. They run them all day long. And really, how many heroes are there these days? And you ignore, ignore a Medal of Honor winner? Awful.

Surely it is newsworthy when someone has been awarded our nations highest military honor? Bill has a point. Why else the snub?

How do you like my ‘enhanced’ header pic?
