Good News!!!

U.S. Navy sends carrier to Gulf but no build-up

A U.S. aircraft carrier is heading to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet area of operations, which includes the Gulf, but the Pentagon said on Tuesday there had been no decision to increase naval power in the region.

U.S. defence officials said the deployment of the USS Enterprise was a routine measure to replace one of two U.S. Navy carriers now in the Fifth Fleet area.

“Has the department made a decision for three carriers in the Gulf? No,” he added.

The U.S. Navy declined to comment on the future movements of the USS Stennis and the USS Nimitz, the two carriers currently deployed in the Fifth Fleet area.

Why is this good news? First, my son is on the Stennis. Second, when they get to a certain port…I’m going on it! Yes, I’m getting a trip from one port to another on an aircraft carrier! How cool is that!!! Oh yeah, I’m taking CJ (evil spawn#2) with me too! I can’t release the details yet, but as soon as I can, you’ll know!

Cool! What kind of work does your son do? Mine is a CSS. Culinary Specialist.

I’m leaving a bit early to spend some time in the local area before getting on the ship.
