Investigations in Alaska too!

U.S. Sen. Stevens’ Home Searched by FBI

Federal agents searching the Alaska home of Republican Sen. Ted Stevens appeared particularly interested in cases of wine stored in the senator’s house, an attorney briefed on the raid said.

Investigators photographed the cases and the individual bottles Monday along with other items from Stevens’ home as part of a public corruption investigation that stretches from Alaska to Washington.

Stevens, 83, is under a federal investigation for his relationship with Bill Allen, an oil field services contractor who was convicted this year of bribing state lawmakers. Stevens was aware for some time that investigators wanted to search the house, the attorney said Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case.

Allen oversaw a 2000 renovation project that more than doubled the size of Stevens’ home in the ski resort community of Girdwood. Allen is the founder of VECO Corp., an Alaska-based oil field services and engineering company that has reaped tens of millions of dollars in federal contracts.

Contractors said they submitted bills to Allen, then received checks from Stevens. The senator has said he paid for all the improvements himself.

Agents from the FBI and Internal Revenue Service started their search at the senator’s home Monday afternoon, said Dave Heller, FBI assistant special agent. He said he could not comment on the nature of the investigation.

Better check the freezer too. We know how politicians like to keep money there. And don’t forget to see if there are any wine stains on the blue dress too.

Edwards: “They want to shut me up”

This stuff’s not an accident. Nobody in this room should think this is an accident. You know, I’m out there speaking up for universal healthcare, ending this war in Iraq, speaking up for the poor. They want to shut me up. That’s what this is about. “Let’s distract from people who don’t have health care coverage. Let’s distract from people who can’t feed their children…. Let’s talk about this silly frivolous nothing stuff so that America won’t pay attention.”

They will never silence me. Never.

If we don’t stand up to these people, if we don’t fight em, if we don’t beat them, they’re going to continue to control this country. Thye’re going to control the media. They’re going to control what’s being said. They do not want to hear us talking about health care for everybody.

Liberals Going After Fox Advertisers

Liberal activists are stepping up their campaign against Fox News Channel by pressuring advertisers not to patronize the network., the Campaign for America’s Future and liberal blogs like are asking thousands of supporters to monitor who is advertising on the network. Once a database is gathered, an organized phone-calling campaign will begin, said Jim Gilliam, vice president of media strategy for Brave New Films, a company that has made anti-Fox videos. is campaigning against Fox because it says the network characterizes itself as a fair news network when it consistently favors a conservative point of view, said Adam Green, the organization’s spokesman.

“We’re not trying to silence anybody,” Green said.

Gosh Adam, what happens when advertisers pull out all of their money? What usually happens when income is completely lost? I’ll give you a moment to think….. Your answer? Well, if it is ‘They go out of business’, then you win!  But then, wouldn’t they be ‘silent’ too? But since you’re not trying to silence them…. then what exactly are you doing? It’s like sterilizing a dog and telling the dog that  you aren’t trying to stop it from having pups. If the end result is the same… then you are!!!

So Fox’s biggest offense is saying they are ‘fair’ and you disagree. Well, lets assume they stop saying they are ‘fair’. Would you then be ok with them? Would you start watching them? Would you believe O’Reilly then? I’ll take a stab at this and guess your answer would be a ‘Not no, but Hell no!’  If that’s the case, then Fox saying ‘fair’ is not the real issue. It looks more like you can’t stand someone expressing a conservative point of view. Especially when you consider that folks on the (far?) left were trying to enforce the ‘fairness doctrine’ on talk radio. Notice it was aimed at conservatives again. Yup, nothing mentioned about applying it to liberal programs on TV either. Biased? You bet!!!

And we want folks like this in power? Might as well move to Venezuela and ‘enjoy’ living under Chavez’s rule. Notice Edward only states ‘they’? Who are ‘they’? Talk about spreading fear! This guy is getting quite desperate! S’pose those poll numbers are starting to bother him? Pretty bad when someone not running is getting higher numbers than you! LOL!!!

So the question is, who is really restricting your right to free speech? Looks like the left is guilty on this one*

* The left does not hold a monopoly on anything. You will find BOTH parties are or have been engaged in similar activities at one point in time or another. The biggest differences may be in quantity or severity of the actions.  Currently, I see the left trying hard to silence the right. From folks in government and civilians alike. Bushco may have done things but I haven’t seen the quantity of people like I see on the left. Bushco’s severity may be more though. I state, you debate.

Quote of the day

July 27, 2007

“There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.” — Robert Heinlein

So, raising my taxes to pay for ‘free health care’ qualifies as tyranny.

(What would health care Hillary say?)

Hi-Tech Restaurant

Hi-Tech Restaurant:
A man walked into a very high-tech restaurant in a fancy hotel. As he waited to be seated, he noticed that the Maitre D’ was a robot. The robot clicked to attention and said, “Sir, there is a one hour wait. And I am programmed to converse with you until a table is ready, If you please.”
Intrigued, the man said, “OK.” The robot clicked a couple more times and then asked,Sir, what is your IQ?” The man answered, “Oh, about 164.” The robot then proceeded to discuss the theory of relativity, interstellar space travel, the latest medical breakthroughs, etc. The man was most impressed.

The next day he returned, but thought he would try a different tack. The robot again asked, “What is your IQ, sir?” This time the man answered, “Oh, about 100”. So the robot started discussing NASCAR racing, the latest basketball Scores, and what to expect the Red Sox to do this weekend.

The guy had to try it one more time. So the next day he returned.

Again the robot asked the question, “What is your IQ?” This time the man drawled out, ” Uh… ’bout 50.”

The robot clicked, then leaned close and very slowly asked, “A-r-e y-o-u-r p-e-o-p-l-e g-o-i-n-g
t-o  n-o-m-i-n-a-t-e H-i-l-l-a-r-y?”

Another Letter from Iraq

Subject: Greetings from the box

Got a couple of good pics for you today. The first one of all things is a camel being checked to make sure there are no bombs attached under it. Now how could something as cute as that be so mean and cruel? Just look at her cute smile.Almost makes you wonder what she is thinking. If it looks familiar it is the same camel I was riding in my last email. The second is a good example of what the dust devils are like around here. This one was a good mile away from us. We rolled up on one yesterday that had a 500 foot base on it !!! What a monster. We were waiting for it to start picking up sheep and goats. Luckily none were in the area at the time. Things are still the same here. Bad guys are being bad and good guys are trying to stop them. We got to spend some time at a bedouin camp the other day. We had passed this camp several times on recons and noticed they had kids there. So we scratched up some toys and went back out to deliver them. One of the herders spoke fairly good english so we were able to converse well. Ended up spending about half a day with
them joking and laughing. We will probably go back again and drop off some dry and canned goods to help them out. Today on the other hand was a little different….. 149 degrees of fun in the sun !!!!!! I think I drank a bottle of water every 15 minutes and 5 minutes later I was thirsty already. This afternoon we found a cool spot in some shade….122 degrees. Luckily we only have about a month of this left then it will start cooling off to the lower hundreds again. As for the gateway girls..(you know who you are) Thank you so much for the package. It was awesome !!!! I was very
surprised to see that the M&M’s did not melt !!!! We will have to wait until about 3 am to play football, but we will definitely get some games in. Thank all of you for the support you have given us over the past year. Hope to see you soon.

Google Earth

I’m new to the program so bear with me. I was looking around North Korea (yes, bored) and I saw this airfield with planes. It just didn’t seem right so I looked at our planes in Alaska too. I used the same altitude setting because both were by the sea. There were many differences Their “planes” seem much smaller and seemed mis-shaped, the airfield seemed deserted, no clear lines separating things. The list just goes on and on.

Any comments?
